Whether it be disseminating information about fertility treatment options or just creating awareness around infertility (that people usually eschew), fertility events have been a great way of addressing infertility. These workshops and events have greatly helped open and encourage conversations around women’s health, wellness and fertility.
Actively working towards encouraging events around infertility to mentally and psychologically empower couples, Goral Gandhi, a senior embryologist is of the opinion that seminars, and events can be a great way of introducing couples to the world of IVF before they go all the way in.
“If you’re planning your pregnancy, attending a fertility seminar can be very helpful,” she says adding that, “bringing the question of fertility out into the “real world” might be potentially intimidating, but community events like these make people aware people about their health and fertility in an intimate, and welcoming way.”
Be it the ET Health World Fertility Conclave or India fertility Show 2019, which have summoned people from all across the country; these events have emphasized on assisted reproduction and the help available. Besides, meeting other people through these events, who are on the same path can be uplifting. “You aren’t alone when it comes to fertility related issues, and events do really normalize your experience, and the perception around IVF and infertility,” says Dr Goral Gandhi.
Talking about the proliferation of events addressing infertility, Riva Bhel, an IVF expert says, “Events give you access to fertility experts who can answer your questions that wouldn’t have been addressed otherwise. Anything you come across while doing your homework, you can come up front and address through these events, which bring all fertility experts under one panel. Sparing you the rounds of appointments at different clinical settings, fertility events are a safe space to explore your options, learn about the latest advancements, and put some of your worries at rest.”
The doctors are always available to have a more personal interaction, says Dr Goral Gandhi who apart from running educational seminars, frequently attends national and international fertility preservation conferences or conventions.
Fertility treatment is personal, and attending a fertility event and meeting some of the medical experts can make it incredible easy for you to go ahead with treatment alternatives. “Being reproductive experts, we are always available to talk to people about fertility and how can we help them, so come to us and clear your doubts if you see us out and about. There is no such thing as a wrong question when you are seeking fertility consultation,” says Dr Goral Gandhi.
