Protesting farmers capture toll plaza near NH-91, as government deploys additional forces

The national capital’s borders have now been blocked at additional places by the farmers, seeking the roll back of center’s agricultural laws. Although hundreds of policemen were deployed at several locations, the farmers have been successful in capturing toll plaza near National Highway-91, allowing the vehicles to pass without paying the toll fee.

After several meetings between the farmers’ unions and the center failed to churn any results, the farmers threatened to intensify their agitation and block Delhi-Jaipur highway on 12th December. One of the farmers’ unions knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court against the government’s new legislations, seeking the revocation of the laws introduced by the government.

The center has accused the ultra-left and opposition of hijacking the protests, while the farmers have dismissed any such allegations. In a recent development, the Prime Minister today reiterated in his speech that the reforms are made to increase the income of farmers, as the new laws will allow the farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the country.

However, the farmers have shown their resentment pertaining to the scrapping of MSP (Minimum Selling Price). Meanwhile, nearly two thousand policemen have been deployed in Gurgaon, while 3,500 have been kept at Faridabad to block the protestors.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has planned a huge campaign across the country after reaching a deadlock. The political party is all set to organize 100 press conferences and 700 farmers meets in 700 districts across various places.

On the other hand, the farmers have warned of full-scale protests across the country and threatened to boycott products of Adani and Ambani in a bid to put pressure on the government to revoke the laws passed by the center in the parliament on 27 September 2020.
