TVs have found their place in almost every Indian household due to their massive entertainment quotient. It is mainly because of this reason, India’s top electronic brands are now aggressively eyeing the modern smart TV category to gain a greater share of the viewing time of users.
TVs have had quite a journey in the Indian market. From cuboidal shape sets featuring yesteryear shows like Shaktiman, Malgudi Days, to slick flat panel sets with internet capabilities, the television industry has improved quite well over the last few years.
There is a wide range of Smart TVs available in the market, offering the customers a lot to choose from. Hence, a number of top Indian electronic brands have made use of this opportunity. With arrival of the country’s top, successful electronic brands in the smart TV category, things look interesting for the Indian market.
The move is likely to help them ink better partnerships with content players because of the end- to-end presence in the screens’ ecosystem. One successful attempt in this backdrop came from Rajesh Agarwal’s Micromax Informatics, with their launch of a new series of “Google- certified” Android TV. This smart TV of Micromax has been designed to help users create a connected home environment. Along with being affordable, new television lineup comes in a variety of sizes. Thus, giving the Indian consumers a lot to choose from.
Speaking at one of the product launch events, Rajesh Agarwal, Co-Founder of Micromax Informatics Limited, said, “We strongly believe that Smart TVs are the future and with the launch of our newest range, we have attempted to give our consumers the best of that technology by giving them a larger-than-life smarter experience.”
TV is considered as the biggest category for the Chinese consumer electronics brands after smartphones. However, due to the recent ban imposed by the US on few of the Chinese brands, the doors have opened up for another Asian giant — India to take the charge. Micromax was one of the pioneers to enter the TV segment.
With an aim to catch maximum attention of the users, this recent move by the electronic consumer brands can build a better smart TV market in India. However, only future will tell how they fare in this expanding market scenario.
