Philanthropy comes naturally to those who understand human emotions deeply. It seems the Franklin Templeton has been blessed with such a virtue since they recently made a really helpful donation to the Akshaya Patra foundation. Franklin Templeton is an investment firm from Wall Street, New York. They have an annual revenue of more than $ 7 million. Despite the staggering turnover, Franklin Templeton showed humility when they decided to gift the five food delivering vehicles that are worth over Rs 60 lakh.
As told by Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa, the president of Akshaya Patra, Hyderabad, these five vehicles have been specially customized to be food trucks that keep the temperature of the food optimal. The taste and quality will also be conserved through these arrangements. The trucks also had their tires checked for the best pressure that would stop the food from being vigorously shaken during transit.
Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa further added: “These five trucks are in addition to the 25 vehicles in the Hyderabad unit, which will help transport freshly cooked and nutritious meals from the centralised kitchens in Patancheruvu to about 65,000 children in more than 450 schools in 11 mandals of Medak district and to about 35,000 Anganwadi beneficiaries”.
This gift to Akshaya Patra will help significantly in their aim to service 5 million children by the year 2020. With the existing 30 delivery vehicles, they need 30 more to be able to meet that target. The Akshaya Patra foundation satiates more than 1.6 million children over 11 states in India. Apart from mid-day meals, Akshaya Patra hosts scholarships, free classes and life-skill classes among many other social service initiatives. It is not easy to find a beacon of empathy and hope that can change millions of lives tremendously. Thankfully, Akshaya Patra has proved that there are good people out there.
