What truly defines the success or failure of an effort is the thought behind the initiative and the thought it stimulates in the minds of beneficiaries. All efforts are not a cent percent success everytime but if the doer does not give up and the beneficiary still has faith in the goal, and the effort is worthwhile even if one person out of many is benefitted. One could be hopeful by keeping that one success in mind and trying.
Something similar is what the Akshaya Patra has going on, going good, and growing rapidly. Akshaya Patra is an initiative pioneered by The Akshaya Patra Foundation and NGO based out of Bangalore, which partners with the Government of India and various State Governments for its successful and smooth running. Akshay Patra is the world’s largest NGO run mid-day meals program, which reaches 1.4 million children from over 10,000 schools across 10 states in India. The organization is much-admired for its hygienically prepared nutritious food.
‘One of the luckiest things that can happen to you in life is, I think, to have a happy childhood’. – Agatha Christi. Akshaya Patra contributes to make the lives of millions of children happy by providing one of the most basic needs of life, food. But that’s not all one needs to live a happy childhood. Children in all parts of the country have to go through worse situations and face challenges that they might not even be prepared for at their age. What is important is how one comes through all these difficulties in life.
Akshaya Patra, with its latest , ‘The Possibilities’ tries to capture the various hardships and challenges children go through. The protagonist of the film Chetan, a Malyalam child artist, portrays a child who goes though hardships for basic survival needs and how the mid day meal provided by Akshay Patra changes his take on life and he faces challenges to outgrow the consequences positively.
“The Possibilities’ relays a strong message about the importance of the mid-day programme. We believe the film will touch many hearts and bring nutritious food to more underserved children of our nation. We are immensely delighted and honoured as the legendary musician; Mr. A. R. Rahman has kindly agreed to donate his popular track ‘Naan Yen…’ as a background track enhancing the impact of the film. We are also grateful to Viacom/ MTV for helping us use the track for the benefit of children. The music complements the essence of the film and sends out a powerful message,” said Chanchalapathi Dasa, Vice Chairman of The Akshaya Patra Foundation.
