How Mahimananda Mishra-led OSL Group emerged as savior for the needy during COVID-19 pandemic

An unfolding humanitarian crisis, COVID-19 pandemic has claimed several lives and engulfed the world in its grip, with no sign of retreat. It is during such challenging times that inequities in the society intensify. The underprivileged sections tend to face a disproportionate share of challenges in the response and recovery efforts. Thus, the crises like the ongoing pandemic call for a robust mechanism to ease the burden on humanity.In the wake of these unprecedented times, several NGOs, corporates and philanthropists have been responding to the crisis in their own way. Aiming to mitigate its impact, Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) has extended a helping hand to the marginalized sections through its noble initiatives.

Following the vision and mission of its managing director – Mahimananda Mishra, OSL Group firmly believes in serving the society in whatever ways it can. The group provided 5000+ PPE kits to its labors, vitamins supplements and immunity-boosting pills to all its employees and site staff and distributed food and refreshments to the needy during the lockdown.

An avid philanthropist, Mahimananda Mishra collaborated with a private hospital which aimed at providing free of cost treatment to his employees and their families infected by the deadly virus. The hospital ensures regular monitoring by doctors, nurses, ICU facilities along with the essential medication.

Additionally, the employees experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 are pursued to take up RT–PCR test from an ICMR-approved lab, with all the charges covered by OSL Group. In case any staff member tests positive for COVID-19, his co-workers also undergo the RT–PCR test, reimbursed by the organization.

All the safety guidelines and preventive measures are followed at the office premises of OSL Group. Thorough sanitization is done regularly at all their branches. Thermal screening is done while entering the office premises and the use of face masks has also been made mandatory. OSL Group is also in the process of discussion with leading pharmaceutical companies for arranging potential COVID vaccines and the same will be distributed to the employees, their families and onsite laborers free of cost.

While the crisis has rendered several employees jobless with a number organizations laying them off and deducting the salary of those who are still working, Mahimananda Mishra-led OSL Group has stepped forward to help their employees sail through the troubled waters. Fulfilling his responsibility of being the guardian to his employees, Mishra has ensured that all interests of the employees are well taken care of.

Certainly, the measures come as a major relief to the needy amid these challenging times and restore the faith of millions in selfless humanity.
