The news about the sad demise of veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna takes social media by storm. One of the most handsome heartthrobs of Hindi film industry, Vinod Khanna reportedly fought a long battle with cancer. Rumours of the star not keeping well were making rounds since the past few days. A picture posted on the web, earlier this month, revealed the senior actor, also a sitting BJP MP from Punjab, in an emaciated condition. It, indeed, stirred a wave of shock among all his fans, followers, and well-wishers from and outside the film fraternity.
Vinod Khanna was admitted at the HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai considering his deteriorating health. But the news of the legendary actor’s death onThursday morning was indeed disheartening. A statement was released by the hospital after the actor’s death, which said, “Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Mr Vinod Khanna, who was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma.”
Condolence messages from politicians, sport personalities, and his colleagues in the movie business started pouring in the social mediainstantaneously. Various members of the Twitterati, including celebrated names like Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor, NitinGadhkari, ArunJaitley, Ram Vilas Paswan, and Virender Sehwag mourned on the big loss to the industry and the country that resulted fromVeteran Actor Vinod Khanna’s death.
Born on 6 October, 1946, the 70-year old superstar had done more than 140 films. He had delivered some of the best Bollywood blockbusters like Amar Akbar Anthony, Muqqadar Ka Sikandar, and The Burning Train. Vinod Khanna was surrounded by his second wife Kavita, and their son and daughter, along with two sons, Rahul and Akshaye from his first wife Geetanjali, while breathing his last.
